earlid /noun/:
an imaginary fold of skin that would allow the ear to be closed the way the eye can be.
Based on the podcast “Mind” from The Digital Human series, which talked about the effects of noise pollution in our daily lives and how it can change our mood or regulate our emotions. Music is mentioned as a partial solution, adding that without music it would be almost impossible to walk around cities like New York.
This project then, rises the question “what other solution might there be?”
The answer to that would be the exquisite connection between the fact that we can close our eyelids and not see what is around us, but we cannot do the same with our ears. That is where earlids comes in.
In terms of development, the way the logo would go on the box was a very important decision, because there was a lot of things to consider regarding what was intended to be shown and understood, and whatnot. From that came the idea of having it ‘falling off’ the side, as an attempt to make the customer turn the box to the side, and possibly all the way around to the point where questions will be answered.
